THRIVING LATINAS

​Overview

The Thriving Latinas program provides culturally specific resources and services that help with safety, economic, housing, and workplace needs for the survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking. All services are meant to promote the client’s long-term self-sufficiency.
This program focuses on empowering and educating women in various topics to achieve independence and success by:
1. Learning the English language
2. Joining the workforce
3. Achieving financial and housing-living independence
4. Supporting them in their healing journey with therapeutic support groups and workshops

Our Services

fINANCIAL LITERACY
Clients will obtain the basic understanding of  financial concepts to promote financial independence like opening a bank account or creating a budget.
sUPPORT AND HEALING WORKSHOPS

​“Knitting Our Stories"
A support group where clients will learn to knit. This will allow them to be able to connect with their cultural roots and express their emotions.
Art Therapy
Clients will explore their emotions, understand feelings that are causing them distress, and use art to help them find resolutions for those issues.

HOUSING SEARCH EDUCATION
Clients will learn about various housing opportunities.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Clients will build skills in the workplace such as how to look for a job or prepare a resume. 

Our Model

Educating
Offering educational workshops that will help our participants achieve financial independence while they join the workforce and learn communication skills.
We also offer tools as well as education that supports mental health and healing.
Mentorship ​
We will introduce successful women from our community of whom which will mentor our participants. These successful women would also monitor their progress during throughout the program.
Leadership
We will encourage our “senior” participants to share their learning experiences and gifts with new participants as they become role models for them.

Program Goals

BUILDING STRONG COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Language barriers are a huge impediment when it comes to communication. We not only offer the ESL classes as a tool of advancement but also to build the communication skills needed to be able to succeed in this country.
PROMOTING POSITIVE EMOTIONS AND PRACTICES
We all have the capacity to achieve our goals! We must believe in it and remind ourselves every day. We are powerful, we have come to this world with a mission and a very unique gift. Let’s make a difference.
CULTURAL EMPOWERMENT
Where do we come from? How rich is our culture and what do we have to offer to the rest of the world? How are we different and how are we the same? What are our gifts? 
LEADERSHIP ENCOURAGEMENT
We will encourage our “senior” participants to share their learnings and gifts with new participants as they will become their role models. 
PERSONAL ACTION PLAN
After completion we will help participants create an updated success Personal Action Plan
