Merly Fuentes began with SEPA Mujer as a Paralegal Intern during her time as a student at Suffolk Community College. As a daughter of two Central American immigrants, she grew up aware that there was a need for societal change and in support of our Latino communities, she expressed a passion for advocating for immigrant rights.
While at Suffolk Community College, Merly also became a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honors society for two-year colleges and was a part of the 2021 All New York USA Academic Team. Since then, Merly has graduated with highest distinction at Suffolk County Community College with an Associates in Applied Science with a concentration in Paralegal studies. Excited about developing her professional and academic growth, she hopes she can one day become an inspiration to young Latina women.
