Marcia Estrada
Chapter Coordinator
[email protected]
Marcia arrived in the United States from Honduras in October 2006. Marcia came to the United States with many goals to create a better life for herself and her family. One of Marcia’s goals was to become a nurse. However, as Marcia began looking into getting a nursing degree she faced many language and financial barriers. Because of these barriers she faced, Marcia instead began working as a Home Health Aide in 2011. Then in 2015, she enrolled in a Home Health Aide class and received her official certification. In 2011, Marcia received services from SEPA Mujer and also learned about the other programs SEPA offers. Along with the services she got at SEPA, she started attending the chapter meetings, leadership workshops and became a volunteer. In these experiences she learned about her rights as a woman and this made her want to grow personally and professionally. Now, Marcia works as the Chapter Coordinator with SEPA Mujer.
