Introduction
Our goal is to provide education and outreach on prevention and protection against COVID19 and other health issues. We want to reinforce awareness that even without immigration status, being proactive about health is imperative to taking positive steps toward wellness. Our health equity program assists individuals seeking appointments for COVID19 vaccines, flu shots, and monkeypox vaccines through our vaccination hotline, which works in conjunction with our AYUDA Latina hotline for victims of crimes. Proactiveness begins with education. Our program also works closely in partnership with Sun River Health, Northwell Health, and Stony Brook Medicine to ensure that individuals are conveniently reached with available resources. We provide outreach services at some of our partner locations as well as work with our partners to bring their very own doctors, specialists, and educators to our community. The medical and health professionals are invited to join us at our chapter meetings and Facebook platform to share information on impactful diseases in the Latina community, such as diabetes, breast cancer, occupational medicine, nutrition, obesity, and more.
