Senior Community Organizer

Brittany’s journey with SEPA Mujer started in December 2020 as the Senior Community Organizer. She will be working with SEPA Mujer’s members in leadership groups, chapter meetings, and on the different statewide and local campaigns SEPA Mujer will participate in.
Brittany graduated as a Master in Social Work community organizer from Silberman School of Social Work and is passionate about immigrant justice. She is excited to work with SEPA Mujer members to build collective power surrounding issues on immigrant justice, social justice, leadership development, and on campaigns in Long Island. Her interest in immigrant justice started at a young age from hearing the stories of her dad’s family's immigration story from the UK, Venezuela and lastly to the U.S. Brittany recognized how her family's immigration experience was easier than most because they were white. Seeing how many immigrants stories were different from her families and how they faced injustices and discrimination fueled Brittany’s passion to work and fight with the immigrant community for justice.
Before SEPA Mujer, Brittany worked in different organizing and nonprofit settings in NYC, Colorado, and Nicaragua. Her first experience with organizing was with promotoras at Familias Especiales in Matagalpa, Nicaragua where she learned about community outreach and working with community leaders. As a social work intern she spent a year with Cabrini Immigrant Services helping to facilitate a leadership group and planning events with the Cabrini community/partners.
Brittany is from a big extended family in Connecticut and has lived in NYC for the past 4 years before moving to Long Island. Outside of work Brittany likes to cook, enjoys time outside hiking with friends, and her most listened artist of 2020 was Prince Royce!
